Permanent electric fences use highly conductive, corrosion resistant fence wire to keep fences looking good and working effectively.
12.5 gauge Class 3 Galvanized High Tensile often referred to as HT wire is the most durable and ideal wire for permanent electric fence installations. Aluminum (AL) Wire although more conductive has a far lesser break strength to that of steel HT wire. The electric current travels on the out side of the wire so the large the wire diameter the more conductive efficient the wire will be.
Coated wires specifically designed to withstand the high voltage of electric fencing these wires should be utilized for under gate, lead out from energizer to fence and for grounding connections.
